First Nation School Board by-election: Candidate elected by acclamation

Date:  Wednesday 7 February 2024

The by-election to fill the one (1) vacant trustee position on the First Nation School Board (FNSB) has been ongoing.

Today, one candidate withdrew from the by-election. The remaining candidate, Mats’äsäna Mą Primozic of Haines Junction, is declared elected. As a result, a poll will no longer be required.

As the newly elected trustee, Mats’äsäna Mą (Sarina) Primozic, will undertake the responsibilities of serving on the First Nation School Board once they take an oath of office. They will serve as a trustee until Fall 2025 when the trustees elected at the next general election are sworn in.

Elections Yukon thanks all electors who applied to vote and who cast their ballots in the by-election. In alignment with the Education Act, all votes cast to date will not be counted.
